Primary Teachers who have recently been inducted in government schools of Uttar Pradesh will be required to join their duty from 3 November, 2020 onwards. A total of 31,277 teachers have been authorised as Primary Teachers. The school allotment procedure will commence from 29 October, 2020 onwards. The appointment letters to the teachers for joining duty have also been issued by Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on 16 October, 2020. Renuka Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, basic education, also issued an official order stating that the process of allotment of schools to the Primary Teachers will be carried out keeping in mind the pupil-teacher ratio which exists in various Primary schools. The Secretary also informed the officials of Basic Education to make sure that teachers are being posted to those schools where the ratio of students-teachers is already optimal.

The official order also informs that the process of counselling will be conducted by the officials at a district level from 26 October onwards to 28 October, 2020. Renuka Kumar also mentioned that a senior official who has been nominated by the respective District Magistrate will be present at the counselling centres in an attempt to make sure that the recruitment process is absolutely transparent, without any corruption and truly based on qualifications of the teachers. The entire process of allotment will be carried out under the supervision of the senior official. However, the teacher who has been selected will be required to appear for the counselling process in person, carrying a valid Identity Card. If a teacher fails to be physically present for the allotment process, a substitute teacher of the same will be allotted a school. Apart from this, the protocols mentioned regarding COVID-19 will be kept in mind at each counselling centre.

The total of 31,277 Primary teachers will be granted the opportunity to join the government schools after a duration of over a year ever since the process of appointment was challenged in the Court. The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board carried out the selection of 31,277 teachers against a total of 69,000 vacancies in the year 2019.
