The last date regarding submission of applications for4638 vacancies of Assistant Professors in a total of 52 subjects in various Universities of Bihar is all set for an extension by the Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC). The information regarding the vacancies was advertised by the BSUSC ahead of the State Assembly Elections, on 23 September, while the last date regarding the application submission was set as 2 November 2020. Aspiring candidates however have been facing difficulty in obtaining the necessary documents required for the application process on account of the Bihar State Assembly Elections and various activities which have been constrained in Universities and different Offices amid the Coronavirus pandemic outbreak.
Candidates who were facing difficulties in procurement of certain certificates were quoted saying that the process of obtaining necessary documents and certificates amid the Puja, COVID-19 pandemic and the Bihar Assembly Elections is very difficult as the respective officials are unavailable. The candidates have thus requested the Commission to postpone the last date 30-40 days ahead. It was also mentioned that procuring caste and income certificates have turned out to be difficult, while many candidates who have already submitted their PhD thesis are unable to appear for the Viva due to the absence of necessary reports from the expert panel. Candidates also mentioned the struggle in submission of the thesis.
However, the Commission has finally decided to extend the deadline in view of the numerous requests. Dr Rajvardhan Azad, the Chairman of the Commission said that the extension of the deadline is under active consideration of the Commission following which the period of extension of the date will be decided on Friday. Various Universities and Colleges in Bihar state have been struggling because of the unavailability of the required staff members amid the recruitment process which has been delayed. Prior to the 2020 recruitment process, BPSC had announced 3364 vacancies in the year 2014 after around 17 years as the Commission had advertised for the required posts back in 1997. However, the interview of candidates initiated in the year 2015, while the recruitment process happened in 2020. There are various institutions in Bihar that have been functioning with just 2-3 Teachers or without Teachers.
