BSUSC Extends Deadline for Assistant Professor Applications, read details

The last date for the submission of online applications regarding 4638 Assistant Professors vacancies in a total of 52 subjects in various Universities of Bihar has been extended by the Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC) upto 2 December, 2020. Besides, the Commission has offered more timeto candidates aiming to send a hard copy of applications through post upto 24 December, 2020. Dr Rajvardhan Azad, the Chairman of BSUSC reported that candidates were facing difficulties in obtaining the necessarycertificates on account of the State Assembly Elections, festivals and restrictions in several activities in the Universities and Offices amid the Coronavirus pandemic. The Chairman mentioned that the decision to extend the deadline was taken in view of the difficulties faced by the candidates due to the restrictions in Universities and Offices due to Elections, festivals and COVID-19. The situation has been closely monitored by the authoritiesdaily in order to make sure that candidates do not have to go through any inconvenience. BSUSC had advertised the details of the 4638 vacancies on 23 September, ahead of the State Assembly Elections. Meanwhile, the deadline regarding the online application submission had been set as 2 November, 2020.

According to reports, around 20,000 online applications from most candidates hailing from Bihar and neighbouring Uttar Pradesh areas, have already been received by the Commission. The Chairman informed that applications from candidates belonging to other states have also been received. It was also mentioned that the number of applications will increase after the restriction in activities in various Universities and Colleges ends after the Elections. The condition of various Universities and Colleges in Bihar is shocking given that there is an unavailability of the required staff due to a delay in the recruitment process. The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) had previously advertised 3364 vacancies in the year 2014 after the announcement of vacancies back in 1997 The interview process however, commenced in 2015 stretching upto 2020.

While the 2009 UGC Regulations could not have been applied in the Universities of Bihar till 2012, some clauses had created difficulty for aspiring candidates to apply for the post of Assistant Professors. Candidates have since been eager to apply for the same, following which the Commission provided certain relaxations of candidates from Bihar. The 2009 regulations have been made by Universities from the date of the notification, due to which the number of vacancies would be good.

Ad Hoc Teachers serving in the University of Delhi had also demanded a relaxation in the clause wherein certificates from the Registrar were needed, in response to which the Chairman of the Commission mentioned that looking into all requests could not be ascertained. The Chairman also informed that aspirants would be able to apply with certificates from recognized authorities. It has been reported that the Commission will take a decision after a situation of examination of merit is reached. The Registrar of University of Delhi had appealed to the Commission that the governing body of Colleges are the Executive Body of the Institution, competent regarding the appointment of Principal and other members of the faculty. The Registrar also mentioned that Principal of the College being the Executive Head is competent enough to issue certificates following which the condition must be considered.
