IOCL to Close Application Window for Apprentices Soon, read more

The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) had earlier opened the online application window regarding recruitment for the post of Apprentice. However, the last date regarding the application window is nearing, following which the same will close soon. The last date of the closing of the online application window has been scheduled for 22 November, 2020 until 6 pm. Since the deadline regarding the same is nearing, candidates who are interested and eligible for the post of Apprentice are required to visit the official website at iocl.com and apply in an online mode. The Corporation has announced a total of 482 vacancies under the departments: Electrical, Telecommunication and Instrumentation, Mechanical, Accounts or Finance, Data Entry Operator, Human Resource and Domestic Data Entry Operator. The vacancies that have been announced are included in Technical as well as in Non-Technical trades at all the locations under the 5 IOCL regions which include:  Western Region Pipelines (WRPL), Northern Region Pipelines (NRPL), Eastern Region Pipelines (ERPL), Southern Region Pipelines (SRPL), South Eastern Region Pipelines (SERPL).


Interested candidates are required to fulfil the required educational qualification for the posts that have been announced. For the post of Technician Apprentice Mechanical, candidates are required to have a full-time Diploma of three years in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering. For the post of Technician Apprentice Electrical, candidates must have a full-time Diploma course of three years in Electrical or Electrical and Electronics Engineering. On the other hand, for the post of Technician Apprentice Telecommunication and Instrumentation, candidates are required to have a full-time Diploma of three years in Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Telecommunication, Electronics and Radio Communication, Instrumentation and Control, Instrumentation and Process Control, or Electronics Engineering. For the post of Trade Apprentice (under Assistant- Human Resource), candidates must have a full-time Bachelor’s degree from a recognized Government University or Institute. For the post of Trade Apprentice (Accountant), candidates must have a full-time Bachelor’s Degree course in Commerce from a recognized Government University or Institute. Candidates must have the minimum educational qualification of being a 12th pass below Graduate Level for the post of Data Entry Operator (Fresher Apprentices). Besides, for the post of Domestic Data Entry Operator (Skill Certificate Holders) aspirants must be 12th pass below Graduate Level and must also have achieved a Skill Certificate of ‘Domestic Data Entry Operator’ for a training of less than one year.


Candidates are required to be between the age of 18 years (minimum age) and 24 years (maximum age) as on 30 October, 2020 which happens to be the date for reckoning the eligibility criteria. The duration is one year for the training for Technician Apprentice (Electrical/ Mechanical/ T & I), one year for Trade Apprentices (Assistant HR/ Accountant) and 15 months for Data Entry Operator and Domestic Data Entry Operator. The selection of candidates will be made on the basis of a Test which will be conducted in a Written mode. The Test will include questions which will be Objective type and Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) in nature. The questions in the test will include 4 options which will hold one correct answer. The candidate will be required to choose one correct answer out of the four options. The Written Test will consist of a total of 100 questions, carrying 100 marks. Every question will carry 1 mark each, while there will not be any negative marking for any wrong attempts.


Following below is the examination pattern regarding the various posts announced by the Corporation.


  • Technician Apprentices: A total of 100 questions which will be Objective in nature will be included. Out of the 100 questions, 75 questions will be asked from the respective field of Diploma Level, while around 25 questions will be based on General Aptitude and Reasoning, General English, Numerical Aptitude and General Knowledge, etc. 
  • Trade Apprentice (Accountant): A total of 100 questions which will be Objective in nature will be included. Around 75 questions will be based on General Accounts/ Commerce/ Finance, while 25 questions will be based on General Aptitude and Reasoning, General English, Numerical Aptitude and General Knowledge, etc.
  • Trade Apprentice (Assistant-Human Resource): A total of 100 questions which will be Objective in nature will be included. The questions will be based on General Aptitude and Reasoning, General English, Numerical Aptitude and General Knowledge/ General Awareness, etc.
  • Data Entry Operator& Domestic Data Entry Operator: A total of 100 questions which will be Objective in nature will be included. The questions will be based on General Aptitude and Reasoning, General English, Numerical Aptitude and General Knowledge/ General Awareness, etc of Class 12 Level.
