SBI Clerk 2020

State Bank of India conducts SBI Clerk recruitment exam for the appointment of Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre. The SBI Clerk 2020 exam is a computer-based test (CBT) which is conducted in two phases – Prelims and Mains followed by a test of the local language. The students who qualify both the stages are finally selected.

The notification for the SBI clerk 2020 exam is expected to be released in the third week of January 2020. The examination for the preliminary stage is expected to be held in July 2020 while the mains exam is conducted tentatively in August 2020.

SBI Clerk 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Along with the notification, SBI will also publish the eligibility criteria for the recruitment of clerks. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility requirements will appear for the exam. Below are the details in brief regarding the age limit, educational qualification, nationality, age relaxation for reserved candidates.


SBI Clerk Eligibility Conditions

Age Limit

Candidates must be between 20 and 28 years of age to apply for SBI Clerk 2020 exam. Age relaxation for reserved categories is as follow:

·         SC/ST-5 years

·         OBC-3 years

·         General PWD-10 years

·         PWD – SC/ST -15 years

·         PWD – OBC-13 years

Education Qualification

A candidate must have graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent degree recognized as such by the Central Government


SBI Clerk 2020 Application Form

Online registration for SBI Clerk exam is expected to begin in January 2020. Candidates must fill and submit the application form of SBI Clerk 2020 before the last date. There will be only one application form for all the stages. Filling the application form is a step by step procedure and candidates must enter the valid email ID and personal contact for future reference.  It is a three-step procedure as mentioned below:

Step 1: Online Registration using a valid e-mail id

Step 2: Entering all personal and educational details

Step 3: Uploading of scanned photograph and signature

Step 4: Previewing or editing details

Step 5: Application fees payment through online mode

Step 6: Printout a copy of e-receipt for fee payment and online filled application form


SBI Clerk 2020 Admit Card

The admit card of SBI Clerk 2020 will be released separately by State Bank of India for prelims and mains exam. Candidates can download the SBI Clerk admit card by entering the registration number and password/date of birth in the login window. The admit card will mention details regarding name and roll number of the candidate, exam center address, exam date and time, exam day instructions etc. It must be noted that no hard copy of the SBI Clerk admit card either prelims or mains examination will be sent through the post. The admit card of SBI Clerk 2020 prelims examination is expected to be released in June. The qualified candidates for mains can download the admit card of SBI Clerk 2020 Mains in the month of August. The candidate must carry valid photo id proof such as voter id, aadhar card, driving license etc. along with the admit card to the exam hall.

SBI Clerk 2020 Exam Pattern

For Preliminary Exam 2020, the exam will be conducted in online mode. There will be 100 multiple choice questions of total 100 marks. Candidates will score 1 mark for every correct answer. While for every incorrect answer 1/4thmarks will be deducted from the candidate’s score. Students who qualify the pre-exam will only appear for the mains exam.

SBI Clerk 2020 Selection Procedure for Mains Exam

This exam is also conducted online consisting of 190 questions of objective type accounting for 200 marks. A total of 2 hours 40 minutes are allotted for the test. Candidates will score 1 mark for every correct answer. While for every incorrect answer 1/4thmarks will be deducted from the candidate’s score. The question paper will be English and Hindi language (except the English section).

SBI Clerk 2020 Selection Procedure for Interview (subject to Govt. of India approval)

A candidate will be required to take part in the interview after one has qualified the SBI Clerk Pre and Main Exam 2020, but it will be subject to the Government of India's approval. To be eligible for an interview, a candidate must secure the minimum qualifying marks. The final selection for the post is decided after the conduction of the interview.

SBI Clerk Preparation Tips

·         Candidate must develop a good reading skill where they can read newspapers and magazines regularly so as to increase their domain of knowledge.

·         Candidate should completely be aware of all the syllabus contents. The key tip to preparation is to cover every topic as mentioned in the syllabus.

·         Practice enough so as to master that area of knowledge. Practice the different type of questions asked from different places which would strengthen your base.

·         Give equal time to all topics and areas as they deserve so that they are clarified and no doubts are left in that domain.

·         Before answering any questions, the candidates should be confident of the answer and attempt with accuracy.

·         Candidates must collect all the resources necessary for preparation such as books, practice papers, syllabus, notes etc before starting the preparation.

·         Candidates must read the questions very carefully and answer them with utmost care. To attempt every question nicely, never misread the question and manage time equally.

·         The candidates should try to attempt as many short questions as they can and should try not to waste time on lengthy questions.

·         Stress will bring down your confidence level and will dampen the spirit for the exam. Don’t take any stress during the exam.

·         Sleep will relax your body, mind, and soul. Proper sleep is very necessary before the exam.

SBI Clerk Result 2020

The result is declared separately in online mode for the Prelims and Mains exam. SBI will announce the result of the preliminary examination in July followed by the mains exam result in August. Candidates must note that preliminary exam scores will not be considered for final selection. Only the mains exam score will be considered for the final merit list and provisional allotment of candidates. Candidates who qualify for the final selection and produce class 10 and 12 marks sheet/certificate as proof that they studied the specified opted local language will not be subjected to any language test. While the student who is unable to produce the certificate for the proof that they have studied the opted local language in class 10 and 12 have to appear for a language test. Candidates who are not found to be proficient in specified opted local language would be disqualified from the selection process. On the basis of the SBI Clerk 2020 mains exam, candidates will be shortlisted for provisional allotment. Only those candidates who will score equal to or more than the category-wise and state-wise cutoff will be selected for a language test and provisional allotment.

SBI Clerk 209 Cutoff

Only those candidates will be considered as qualified who secures equal to or more than the category-wise SBI Clerk cut off marks as specified in the written exam. The cutoff score decided by the authority is based on a number of factors such as the number of vacancies, candidates appearing for the respective posts and difficulty level of the exam.
